Knuckles Down

The feeling of Knuckles Down can go all the way back to the Hogan Era. It still rings true today. Golfers who cast or early release usually get the lead hang knuckles pointing up towards their lead shoulder or even to the sky, leading to a total lack of shaft lean and compression. By feeling the knuckles down, you are effectively forcing the body to rotate well to square the face, which creates natural shaft lean.
